It features energy savings of up to 80% when compared to conventional electric hot water units, as well as 50% faster heat recovery when compared to other heat pump units.
This super-efficient, super-quiet, all-electric system provides reliable hot water throughout every day of the year: regardless of outdoor weather conditions; without electrical back-up assistance; and without gas. The SANDEN Heat Pump is capable of producing hot water at temperatures of up to 65oC, even when outdoor temperatures drop as low as -10oC, or as high as 43oC (making it perfectly suitable for the Canberra climate).
The SANDEN Heat Pump System is eligible for the highest number of Small-scale Technology Credits (STCs), meaning that as well as the ongoing energy savings, you can also expect immediate cash benefits the moment the system is installed.

The SANDEN Heat Pump System operates like a refrigerator in reverse:
SANDEN’s high-quality, long-life, duplex stainless steel storage tanks are well insulated, which makes for extremely low heat losses. The overall sound level of the system is about 38dB (somewhere between a whisper and the ambient sound of a library).
What sets the SANDEN Heat Pump System apart from other heat pump and refrigeration systems is its use of CO2 as the refrigerant (refrigerant R744).
The use of CO2 as a refrigerant is revolutionising the heat pump industry worldwide. R744 is a natural refrigerant, R744 (CO2), which is ozone friendly and has a far lower global warming potential than other commonly used and harmful fluorocarbons (see table). It’s superior chemical properties means it also works at a higher efficiency, giving you more hot water for less electrical energy (and money).
When coupled with a solar PV power system, the SANDEN Heat Pump System becomes the competitive all-solar-electric alternative for low-E and Passive House buildings. The system also outperforms conventional solar-thermal hot water systems, particularly during the winter half of the year, when performance matters most.

All units are eligible for Small-scale Technology Certificates (STCs) in accordance with the Australian Renewable Energy Target (RET) scheme.
STCs are traded on the open market, and fluctuate accordingly. The number of available STCs varies according to postcode and tank size. The total available rebate on SANDEN Heat Pump Systems currently ranges from $900 to $1,300.
